Flatbed Truck Overview
A flatbed truck is a type of truck with a rigid design. It has a back body that is flatly shaped for easy loading and unloading of goods. The flatbed truck is mostly used to transport heavy, oversized, wide, and indelicate goods such as machinery, building supplies, or equipment.
A flatbed truck provides an entirely flat and level bed that lacks any sides or roof. The main advantage that comes with such a setup is convenience, especially when loading heavier pieces of cargo. There's no lip to lift things over, and you can load from any direction you want. It is ideal for abnormal loads that require more space than is available on a closed body. Flatbed trucks can be either articulated or rigid.
